A Busy Weekend!

It was a busy weekend in September for Durst Organic Growers, starting out with a tasting for the Culinary Institute of America at the Land Based Learning Center in Winters on September 10th. This event, sponsored by the Almond Board of California, brought in two bus loads of Restaurant and Food industry guests tasting the bounty & varieties of local Yolo County farms. Lunch was prepared with much of the fresh produce, figs and almonds by Culinary Institute Students and served under the beautiful trees outside the Historic Farmhouse. Different sized farms were presented to showcase the variety of farm operations, size and methods.
On Sunday September 12th we made our way out to the Elkhorn Basin Ranch for a Day in the Country. This annual event benefits the Yolo Land Trust which protects and preserves farmland, open space & wildlife habitats in Yolo County. Participants come out to take in the local tastes of Wineries, Farms & Restaurants from throughout the area. Durst Organic provided fresh Tomato, Basil & Melon Skewers, a Thai Watermelon Soup, and of course our refreshing frozen Melon Pops! Music, Food, Fellowship & Fun! Now that's a Day in the Country! And a busy Weekend to remember!
