Fall always provides a feeling of winding down, comforting thoughts of thanksgiving and home but before we call it a season... there is also excitement and experience to be found and that is exactly what occured on the Farm this past weekend with the non-profit
group LifeSTEPS.
LifeSTEPS is an organization that provides high quality supportive services to residents of affordable housing and they organized 20 family members & 20 senior citizens to visit our farm on Saturday October 9th. Some of these had never been to a farm before and it was truly a memorable event! There were lots of activities for the kids including seed harvesting & planting, hands-on art,
a pumpkin tic-tac-toe and a telescope. Farm animals were available for viewing and a tractor ride took guests on a ride around the fields
to see an Asparagus transplant in process. At the Cherry Tomato field, kids and adults alike enjoyed the Summer tastes of Durst Organic before the end of their growing season and the Grande finale was a stop at the Pumpkin patch where everyone picked their favorite Pumpkin
to bring home! We enjoyed lunch provided by our guests and giveaways included
copies of the Capital Press Newspaper & a California CountryMagazine! It was a day that will always be remembered for the fellowship, fun & all the life "steps" taken on the farm that day!
