The wet spring was not good for our melon transplants which require warm soils to grow and produce. Three of the 2011 plantings were lost and additional plantings were then made to these beds. This also resulted in the watermelon plants to group, which means that the beginning of the harvest will provide a Melon Mania... All of the plants will produce at once which should provide lots of melons, but will make marketing a challenge until the plants eventually even out to a more consistent production.
